Sports Massage Manchester & Sports Injury Treatment

Enhance your performance....

Massage, applied skillfully, is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.

These muscle imbalances may develop and often go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause the athlete discomfort or impede performance. The skilled massage therapist will be able to detect variations in the soft tissues and by using the correct techniques, help the sports person maintain a much healthier physical state.

It may therefore be reasonably claimed that one of the greatest benefits of sports massage is in helping prevent injury.

During sports massage and sports injury treatments, I may also use deep-tissue work, pelvic balancing, soft-tissue release, neuromuscular techniques and sports taping.

Deep-tissue work – involves releasing stuck muscles, separating muscle compartments, lengthening shortened muscle and freeing up tendons.

Pelvic balancing – a balanced pelvis is the key to having healthy, injury-free necks, backs, legs knees and ankles. If your pelvis isn’t balanced it may be causing one or more of your muscle groups/joints to overwork, thus increasing chance of injury.

Soft-tissue release – is a technique which is highly effective at breaking down stubborn tissue and locked up muscles, and because it involves your active participation it helps with re-education of the nervous system to deliver lasting results.

Neuromuscular techniques – offer an efficient and proven method of soft tissue manipulation involving thumb/finger application. The techniques are particularly effective in helping eliminate trigger point activity.

Sports taping – is a revolutionary method of treating acute sprains and strains, not only giving the injury stability but also increasing blood flow to the area, helping to break-down scar tissue and therefore facilitating a faster return from injury.
